How to replace a drive belt on a riding lawn tractor
Help, we have a 42" White Outdoor/Briggs and Straton riding lawn mower and have blown two belts. We have gotten the old ones off with the help of a knife but can't get the new drive belt on. There does not seem to be enough room between the pully and the wall of the frame to get the belt in there to thread it and then get the springs back on. We don't want to have to remove the pully if we don't have to but even if we do it seems as though that will be a problem as well. How do you get the pully off if necessary.

    Thanks to all,

    Libby,
I run Toro mowers for my Lawn service company and can tell you I run into the same problem. I have found on my Toro mowers that Loosening the center bolt on the pulley will allow for enough play to install the belt. This may work for you , worse case scenerio you will have to remove the pulley. I hope this helps some.
