Started the pill 2 weeks ago, breakthrough bleeding help!
Hey, I started the combined pill (brand: Cilest) two weeks ago and I started on the last day of my period. I didn't get bleeding for the first week of being on the pill and at the start of the next week I went to the toilet and there was a little blood in my pants, not a lot, about a 5p coin size amount and it was red but now there's a little more blood but this time its dark brown. Should I be worried? How long will it last? This is my first time ever taking the pill, I'm 19 and I thought it was time to get on it. Around eight days before I started the pill I took the morning after pill (16 hours after unprotected sex) and then went to a party that night where I did drink but not a lot (was not sick) could the bleeding be due to the morning after pill failing and me being pregnant? Because I started the pill on the last day of my period how long should I wait before I have sex? The doctor said a week but some people say wait a month and the blood is a mood killer and really doenst make me want to have sex but just in case.. thank you in advance!

I took the morning after pill the last day of my period like you did, and like a week later I started with some spotting and like a few days later I got my period. That pill screws up you're cycle, but don't wory too much the because pill will help get you're cycle back on track.

Sorry it sounded unclear.. I started the contraceptive pill on the last day of my period, I took the morning after pill eight days before starting the contraceptive pill.. so 3 days before my period I took the morning after pill.. then got my normal period 3 days later, on the last day of that period I started the contraceptive pill and now I'm 2 weeks into it and I'm getting spotting.

Khloe is still right, the morning after pill is known for throwing off your cycle. And sometimes you experience irregular bleeding when your body is getting used to a new pill too. It can take about 3 months to adjust to a new pill. If your next period doesn't come (usually around the time you finish a pill pack), I would take a pregnancy test. And if the break through bleeding hasn't stopped by your third month on the pill, definitely talk to your doctor. If it's really bothersome before then, you can always call your doctor sooner of course. Or if you experience anything more serious.
