I have a new panasonic DVD recorder that I am trying to connect to both my Satellite box (for international channels) and my Charter Cable DVR. I have been trying to do this for over a week now and cannot get it to work properly with the Charter Cable DVR. I get the lower channels but not the HD channels. Is it even possible to get the HD channels?

DVD's do not record in HD, they are standard definition media.

Blueray discs are designed to handle the extra capacity required to record an HD signal. You should be able to use a HDMI to Composite /S-Video Converter and then plug the wires into your DVD recorder.

This would give you a standard definition copy of the HD channels.
