My 3 year old does not Speak
My child will be 3 years old on 24/04/2011 he does not speak anything except tata... gaga... mama... papa... baba... etc and other similar noises but not when asked? He keeps busy himself, is very active trying to do all things on his own,he comes to us only when he wants something or when he wants to get love from us.His BERA test is Normal, but he mostly does not respond when he is called but his listening is normal as he can spot even minor noises like opening of a plastic packet, opening of TV channel or any other noise word etc of his liking e.g. ALL IS WELL,he is very fond of music also and loves to listen to Dish TV interactive(We don't know why because it gives only general information about Dish TV).***. Every child comes along at their own speed. It isn't unusual that he is just starting to mimic you words, as you say, mama, dada. What you have to do is start teaching him different words and have patience when he is learning. He is no going to learn everything you want at three years old unless you spend time teaching him.

I had the same problem with my daughter, she didn't speak until the age of 4. Speech therapy helped but her problem was put down to her older brother doing all the talking for her. I was told that when she did start we wouldn't be able to keep her quiet and believe me this was the case

Yes, and that happens often, but the downside is a mom anticipating what a young child needs without letting them figure out how to verbalize to ask for it, is a problem too. This happens a lot of busy moms.
