There is always a chance of pregnancy whenever you have sex, but it's less likely to get pregnant the day before your period.

Less likely doesn't mean it's not possible though. Always use protection, even if you're close to having your period.

Very low... you are only fertile for a couple of days right in the "middle" of your cycle. Pregnancy right before or right after your period is highly unlikely. However, our bodies are mysterious things... strange things happen sometimes so don't take any chances if you don't want to get pregnant.

I have to correct you. Not all women are only fertile for a couple of days in the middle of their cycle. That's the risk. You can ovulate right before your period. You can even get pregnant while you're having your period, it's happened.

So yes, the odds are low, but not nonexistent unless the OP knows for sure when she ovulates, and she ovulates the same time every month.
