    Start by freezing it with ice or spray it with butane if you can ventilate the area well, then smash it with a hammer and vac up the pieces after scraping with a putty knife. Last bits can be removed by placing a terrycloth towel over the area and heat with an iron so the terry can absorb the wax. If any wax is left use a solvent like hair spray and another towel

    First, put ice cubes on the wax to harden it and then try to pick off as much as possible. Then, get some brown wrapping paper, not newspaper, put it over the wax and press down on the paper with a warm iron. Not too hot or you may melt the fiber. You should see the wax being drawn into the paper. Keep moving the paper around until it does not pick up any wax. Use a heavy duty carpet cleaner next and then vacuum.
