    Hot water tank losing water
Hi, When I turn the power off the hot water tank and then turn the cold water inlet tap off. The tank is empty after a few hours. There are no visible leaks anywhere near the tank. When I turn on any hot water tap in the house no water comes out. What is causing the tank to lose water? Thank you

Don't know your exact plumbing set up, but the only thing near the tank bottom is the drain valve. Is there a hose connected to it? Draining there? No Leaks? That's a lot of water to disappear!

Let me think this through but also check on what exactly you are saying. So this must be an elecytrci hot water heater for domestic use, right? Are you doing this "When i turn on any hot water tap in the house no water comes out" while the cold supply is still off? This would not mean the tank is empty, how are you confirming it has emptied itself?

I doubt the tank is empty. Wouldn't the heating elements burn up in that case??

    Comment on jlisenbe's post
Says "when I turn the power off" Still can't imagine losing that much water and no leak.
