When I was driving the van srated to sputter and as I was pulling off the road it died. I turned it off until my husband arrived. I was making a clickling noise before I turned it off. When he arrived the battery was dead so we jumped it then it wouldn't turn over it just clicked. While we were pushing into a parking lot the lights started to blink like the hazard lights were on and my brakes were not working. The lights dies before I got it into a space. Please help. Van is now 45 miles away need to get it home!

Be prepared to test all under hood and under dash fuses with a test light or multimeter. Performing the regulated battery voltage test, explained in the link above, will likely tell you if the alternator is bad--look for 14 to 15 volts.

I suspect the alternator is bad, which caused the battery to run down and the van to die. Otherwise, the battery was just shot.
