Have your tried shopping online. There are tons of sites available. This past christmas I bought several gifts from; http://bestgiftsfor.net/2010/04/best-gifts-for-a-man/

A quality watch with a personal inscription on the inside is a classic choice. Another option would be a quality pen such as Cross or Mont Blanc, perhaps engraved with his name and/or your wedding date.

Or another personal item like a monogrammed valet tray for his dresser (for keeping his wallet, keys, watch, etc. when he's not wearing/carrying them).

If he's a less formal guy who would not like these types of gifts, think of his greatest interests and get something special related to that interest such as a limited edition sports item, or a really fancy fishing pole, or some beautifully made tools if he likes woodworking - something he will enjoy using.

We had limited funds so I just bought my husband-to-be a book about our honeymoon destination.

A nice love letter too :)

I would just look for something that will really signify this time in your life. Something almost momentous. A gift for your new husband should be thoughtful and very personal. It could also be something extravagant.
