Just curious. I am building a walk in shower and thought about installing an overhead rain shower head tile. I wanted to also install a regular shower head on the wall. My question is if there was a way to have a way to engage one head or the other and not both. I don't want to use the overhead all the time. Is there a way to switch between the two shower heads.

Yes, shower diverter valves are available. Most fit on the shower head arm. Wall mounted diverter valves are available. Here is one I found at

Harold is correct as usual. Before you buy your mixer and install your pipes you should read up on the volume demand for the rain shower head, some require a larger pipe and mixer due to the volume they need

Also agree with previous posts. In addition: Since you are in process of remodeling, I suggest that you use the diverter that is installed inside the wall. Looks lot cleaner than diverters installed on top of shower arm. There are many manufacturers that make these diverters today, like Grohe, HansGrohe, Kohler or Danze... just to mention few. Usually, you can operate 1 head at a time.
