We are chasing a water leak around a shower stall and have removed the glass doors and molding around the shower pan. Want to remove the shower pan but are confused how high the lip goes up under the tiled walls. Are we going to end up removing some of the tile to get the pan out? Hopefully the two pics sent explain better.

I didn't see the two pics that you said that you sent, so I don't have that help.
When you are talking about a shower pan are you talking about the base of your shower or are you talking about the pan that is under all of your shower that is usually made of lead or of some type of vinyl that it's main purpose is to catch any type of leak that gets through the shower wall or through the shower floor.
If you shower floor is made of ceramic tile and you want to replace the shower pan you will have to remove the floor and also some of the tile that goes up the shower wall for about 12 inches.
If this is no help add another message explain what you have in your shower and someone will help you.

The pan is plastic and the walls are tiled. After furthur inspection it appears necessary to remove the bottom layer of tile that abuts to the top of the shower pan. Looks like I will be needing advice on how to remove tiles without damaging others around them.

We run the lips of our custom shower pans up 6 to 8 inches off the floor. Your pics didn't come through. Regards, tom

To me, it sounds like you have a pre-fab shower base. There's about a 1" lip or so behind the tile. Taking just the bottom tile, along with the cement board should be all you need. What I wouldn't know is what to do afterwards. I'd guess you can put new cementboard up. Hopefully someone can chime in with some insight.
