    Heat & Air Conditioning
I live in SW Missouri. We are currently experiencing an ice storm. When my power came back on after being off about 3 hrs. my heat pump is completely iced up causing the unit to shut down.

Can I pour warm or hot water over the unit to remove the ice? I believe it simply is unable to get air to the unit.

    Thank you

Yes you can . Turn power off to unit first. A heatpump will check its self for ice every 30,60 or 90 minutes. Depends on your defrost board setting. When the whether is that bad or below 32 degrees I would switch to emergency heat. The heat pump can not keep up after falling below that temp.
