I have light switch at front door and another at foot of the stairs .if you switch door lights won't come on .turn on at stairs then carnt turn off at the door please can you help

I separated your question you had piggybacked on another thread.

So, you have two switches for lights at a doorway?

One switch does nothing and another one will turn it on?

Please explain in more detail, and a bit clearer.

From your post it appears that you have 2 3-way switches wired to this light and one or both of them has gone bad. Replacing both switches would be the fastest fix.

Sounds like a mis-wired 3-way setup.

Did it ever work properly?
