My grandson has his mothers surname, not my son's?
When my son's girlfriend gave birth to his son, she did not put his name on the birth certificate, and the child has her surname, when asked why I was never given a straight answer, my son pays child support, and has been responsible for him, they do not live together any more, I have always thought it was strange, they were together for six months before she got pregnant, and lived together until a couple of years ago. Any reason why she would do this and where does my son stand?

Many unmarried women do this so that they and their child will have the same surname. However, why this girl did this, only she can answer.

Where does your son stand as far as what? He's still the father of the child and still has rights as such.
