How old is your dog? Has he been checked out for any urinary infections or bladder infections? If he has a clean health record, you can try limiting the amount of water he gets before you leave the house. Always make sure to take him out side for a good 20 min, at least a half hour before you leave the house. When he does his business out side praise like mad.

Do you leave the radio on for him while you are away? My dog has separation anxiety, and she has accidents in her crate as well, I found leaving the radio on helped her with that.

I would also suggest taking everything out of the crate. No pillows or blankets, just the pan in the bottom and maybe a chew toy or a bone.
