Full custody, joint custody, where do you live ? How old is the child, is the mother unfit ?

Assuming both parents are fit parents, it is very common for the parents to get joint custody. But a father getting custody is not unheard of either.

I won full custody of my 7 yr old son when I divorced 21 years ago when it was extremely uncommon . It can be done.
Get an attorney now if you don't already have one. Not tomorrow... now.
Say goodbye to several thousand dollars. It is not fair or just, but good attorneys are what you need and they do not work for pennies, O J Simpson is a testament to what top notch attorneys can do .

Even at that, unless there is reason to fear for the well being of the children , joint custody is the preferred option of most courts.

If possible, try to overlook your differences with your children's mother, the kids do better when involved with both parents.
They don't lose the love they have for you and should not be torn between you two.
