Installing a light fixture on the ceiling.
Ok here is the deal I'm installing a light fixture on the ceiling box, and I wire white w/ with, black w/ black, green w/ green, but lights don't turn on! And the wires in the box are hot.

    What I'm doing wrong?

    Please help!

Is there a switch in this circuit?

When u say white w/ white, do u mean white from box to white from light?

    Give more detail.

As Chuck says, switch? How was it wired before. What wires are hot? Should only be black but you may have a switch loop.

If the wires in the box are hot you better be checking your bulb. Once you have juice in the ceiling box it doesn't take much more. Do some quick tests for me once you prove your bulb is good. Test between black and white, do you read 120 vac? Test between black and green, do you get 120vac. Test between green and white, what do you get?

Describe the wires in the ceiling box. Chances are that there is more than one black and one white.
