Moen Single-Handle Posi-Temp Faucet Just Free-Wheels -- No "Stop" Mechanism
    Hello,

The problem I have w/ my Moen single-handle posi-temp shower faucet is that it just free-wheels in a circle, without engaging the stop mechanism. I've removed the handle using an Allen wrench. Now what? I think I just need to reposition something but am a little stuck about what piece to check. Thanks.

Are all parts including the knob original equipment? The only time I have run into this was when the homeowner used a universal knob replacement. Did you install this valve or has it always been like this?

OK -- I think I have answered my own question. There is a metal collar or sleeve with a raised notch that sits behind the cartridge, close to the wall. That sleeve is what stops the handle from rotating freely. I just took some needle-nose pliers and pulled that sleeve forward, repositioning it so the handle will catch it. Once I did that, it was fixed. All I did then was put the handle back on.

Glad this works out for you, not quite sure what's going on but normally that collar can not be pushed in too far but it does sound like your did.
