    Basically, the starter is a combination of switch, fuse, thermal overload relay and speciality of no volt coil built on for contactor. In the event of power failure while motor is running; no volt coil drops down thus making the contactor in off state. Thus, after resumption of power again; there is no inadvertent starting of motor takes place. Hence, starter is necessary for a motor.
