How can I get my girlfriend over her ex?
Ok. My girlfriend is extremely depressed. She suffers from depression and is bipolar. And her ex broke up with her. So everyday she has cried because of it. She is "emo" you could say. She cuts. I have been trying extremely hard to get her to quit. And one day she lost her razor, thank god, and so she asked one of her old friends to et her one. So txted him and he said he wasn't going to give it to her anyway. So that's a plus. And lately she has been having withdraw from it. And she has attempted to break with me because I will not let her get it. And so far aI have no let her do it.

We are in true love. 2 months and I have fought harder to keep her with me than any of other ex's had. I care more than any of the others. And I am better than her last one. But she is still crying over him. And cutting because of him. And I am tired of it. I want to help her. He hurt her so bad. He broke up with her by just saying his parents do not want him to have anything to do with her.

And Sunday, the day her broke up, she cries the hardest. Every week. And he blocked all communication with her. There us no chance of her getting him back. Not as her boyfriend but as her best friend like how they use to be. And even if she did some how she does not understand how it would just happen all over again. I

Need to help her. She can not keep going on like this. She has attempted suicide. Which I have pulled her out from in front of a train in the freezing cold. And she has made horrible cuts. She was rape when she was 11 which is when her depression started. And has not told any adults. And then she was forced to give oral sex at the age of 12. She has been crying for 3 months over the break up. I have to help her before it gets any worse. Oh and then her mom pushes her and stress her to get straight a's. She has flash backs often. And then it took her almost a year to stop crying over another boy that didn't mean as much as her last did.

I am sorry for using your time but this is extremely important that I help her. If I do not I am afraid she is going to turn to suicide again. She can not keep going on the way she is.

First, I would edit that post and delete the email address.

Second, is she your "girlfriend" or are you just friends? Because if she is your girlfriend, why do you put up with someone who clearly has issues and couldn't heal after their last breakup? You can be "in true love" but she is not. She is trying to get over her ex = she is not in love with you.

If she is your friend and you are trying to help her, you should try to get her to see a professional. How old are you both? Maybe you can talk to an adult about all this. Because sadly, you cannot help her the way she needs. You can be there for her when she needs to talk but she should get professional help. Good luck.

Do NOT let someone use you for suicide attempts! It is extremely unfair, manipulative, and merely involves you too deeply in something you can't do anything about. When you pulled her back from the train (which she was counting on) you should have called an ambulance. You have to practice tough love here the same way you would with a drug or alcohol addict. Tell her it's too much burden and you love her but if she does it you are walking away until she stops.

Sorry guy, but love is not a substitute for professional help. You are simply not qualified to deal with her issues, and the truth is, YOU CANNOT HELP HER, YOU DON'T KNOW HOW!

Talk to her parents, and let them get her some REAL help!!
