You can barely see them but they leave black streaks when you dry the tub. Sometimes you can see a puff of Grey water comes out when you are running the Hot Water only. I mainly notice them in the soaking tub that does not have an aerator or screen.

    Hi Jzeman...

First, I'd have you remove a couple aerators from other faucets and see if the black particles are showing up in the other faucets. If not, and the issue is isolated to the tub then you could have an issue with the washers or even the hoses that connect the plumbing to the faucet disintegrating and causing your issue.

If the issue is throughout the house, then I'd start asking you if you have a charcoal filter or a water softener anywhere in the cold water main? If so, it could be that charcoal is breaking free of the filter system and the filter(s) will need to be replaced and the aerators and pipes cleaned/flushed.

Otherwise, my next question would ask you if you have ever power flushed the water heater... could be an issue with sediment in the water heater?

Examine all as mentioned above and then let me know what you find, OK?
