Does caffeine just not work with me or is something else wrong?
Ok well over the years I have tried caffeine once in awhile and have been drinking it a bit more regularly over the last year. I get eight hours of sleep at least a night but I feel it does nothing I am exhausted when I wake up and does not matter how much coffee or energy drinks I drink I am half asleep and tired most of the day. And recently I have been getting headaches everyday and this occasional sharp pain in my neck and the left cheek and over the last few weeks I get this dull ache on both sides of my chest with an occasional sharp jab and once it spread to the left arm but that has been awhile. It is getting harder for me to keep awake I long ago gave up any type of jobs that had me sitting down for I fall asleep at them and I can only make it half way through church without passing out it is really annoying. But the worst part in my opinion is I have a hard time keeping anything in my short term memory anymore I cannot remember anyone's names except family when I used to and need my wife to tell me even if I see them all the time and dates and times I have to write them down now or anything else important.

For pity's sake, get a complete physical. You are describing symptoms that could range from depression to infected tooth to to low thyroid to sleep apnea to heart attacks, with everything else in between, or nothing at all but life's aches and pains as you age. We don't know your age, your weight, your diet, how sedentary you are.

And all that caffeine can certainly give anyone headaches, but how do we know which came first?

Agreeing with joypulv, you should get a physical exam, and see a doctor for those pains and sleeping issues.

Large amounts of caffeine (coffee, energy drinks) are not going to keep you awake. It will give you a BURST of energy if you choose to use it and then make you CRASH. . Feeling very tired.

In my non-professional opinion, exercise & diet make a big difference with "energy levels. Exercise natural helps with sleep, depression & energy level (not including staying fit). And you can get a lot of good natural energy from leafy greens and fruit.

But to answer your question .. caffeine isn't the "main" issue here.. there is something else going on in your body.. . and a doctor can help.

Do you snore a lot when you sleep ? There could be a sleeping issue. But you need to get a physcial.
