U.S Resident gets married with a tourist.
Hello, My name is Laura and I am a permanent resident of US. Four months ago, I met a guy who is from Germany. He has a tourist visa and has come to the country 2 times. Now we want to be together, so we are trying to figure out which way is going to be easier. If I go to live in Germany which is one of the two options, I would have to come every six months plus I would have to learn German. On the other hand, I would love to stay here since I am current college student and I see more future here. My question is: if we get married, would he have to wait for his green card in German since I am a resident? Is there any other option which lets him stay in this country until he gets his documents? Or considering the other option... is there any problem if I travel every six months to not lose my green card? I am going to become a U.S citizen in 3 years.

    Thank you.

It takes approx 5 years for spouse of LPR to get immigrant visa. The best thing to do for now is he should maintain his visa status such as F-1 or H1-B or L-1, etc. until you become naturalized.

Thank you for you answer. But I also want to know how it would be if I go to live in Germnay and come every six months. Would I risk my residence?

    Thank you
