    Reopening a case
As a young child I had a head injury, I'm told that when I'm 19 I can reopen my case how do I go about doing this?

First this is a message board, not a chat. So answers may not be immediate. If you setup your profile properly you will receive an e-mail when a response is posted.

Second, Who told you this? What "case"? Reopen in what way? If you are referring to getting more money from the insurance company, I would be surprised if it was true. Your parents probably signed a settlement with them.

Your best bet is to consult an attorney.

    Hello helpless:

If you've been injured and the company told you to reopen the case later, then OK. It's later! You should see a lawyer. It won't cost you any money, if you win a settlement. Go do that tomorrow!

Although, something is funny about this situation. Injury cases don't happen like this.

    Hello again, helpless:

What I meant above was, that lawyers represent ANY injured party. It doesn't matter how old you are. Go see a lawyer. It won't cost you a dime to talk to some on the phone, and it won't cost you a dime to make an appointment with and visit one or two. And it won't cost you a dime to have him represent you, either.

    Really. I'm not lying. Go.

First may I call your attention these guidelines on using the comments feature.

And I DID answer your question. You asked how to reopen the case, I told you to consult an attorney. If you need to sue someone that's what you do. You also gave us precious little info to answer with. That's why I asked for more info, to try and give you a better answer. You should at least have given me a chance to provide an answer by answering my questions. Giving an unfair negative rating like you did doesn't inspire us to help you.

You still haven't given us much to go on. We don't know the circumstances of the injury nor why you were told to open the case when you reached 19. Nor why you want to open the case and what you expect to gain from it. I'm not sure how you expect helpful advice without giving us information to go on.

So the best advice I can give is the advice I already gave and excon reiterated, see an attorney. Most attorneys will give you a free consultation on personal injury cases. If they feel there is a case, they will take it on a contingency basis, where they only collect if you collect.
