    Hormone tests
    Hi,

I am 26 years old and I went to see my gp a few days ago as I hadn't had a period for 3 months and had been getting a lot of pains on the left side of my abdomen. My Gp said she wanted to take some bloods to check my hormone levels and my thyroid as well, and mentioned something about PCOS I am suppose to be going this afternoon in 4 hours to get these blood tests taken and I have now come on my period today. Do I still go for these blood tests so they can still check my hormones or is it irrelevant now because I have come on my period or would they still need to check them anyway and would they be able to do this now as I am on my period would it make a difference? Would they still be able to determine PCOS now that I am on:confused:

Any help would be much appreciated

    Thanks

Yes, to all of your questions. Please go to the doctor, and yes they can still diagnose PCOS.

Please let us know what you find out.

Hiya, Many thanks for your reply. I have just literally got back from having my bloods taken and have to go back to see my dr on the 23rd so hopefully will have some answers then. I really appreciate your answer so much as I was panicking thinking that now I had come on they wouldn't be able to detect if there was something wrong so again thank you very much.

Hiya just to let you know I got my results back this afternoon. It seems I do have PCOS and she is referring me to a gynacologist. Anyway just to thank you for your help and as promised I would let you know how I got on.

    So again thanks J_9
