Hi, I gave birth nearly 4 weeks ago, it was a perfectly normal birth and I stopped bleeding completely after about 2 weeks. About 5 days ago I started bleeding again but before my midwife discharged me she said that I could still get a bit of bleeding coming back. But the bleeding has got really heavy and I am having to change my pad every hour or sometimes less and the blood is bright red and today I have started getting regular clots in my pad. Is this normal, or should I see my GP?

Firstly how long have you been bleeding? If I remember righlty I bled for 3 weeks after giving birth then stopped and about 4 days later I had the heaviest period ever, small clots and everything so it could just be a heavy period but identifying how long you have been bleeding may help us to help you hun. I would just give your midewife a ring or you should have a health visitor calling in the next couple of days ask her
