Sue the friend and her mother for the value of the dress

And I guess I have to ask, why is someone storing your wedding dress before a wedding

I live with my partner and didn't want him to see it and also I smoke so I wanted to keep it in a smoke free pet free house :-/ wish I'd just kept it myself now, silly superstition! Its been really worrying me :-( I can't afford to replace it xxxx

Esp if you live in a small town, you could call the police to meet you at the mom's house, and tell them that they will not give you the dress, while they may do nothing, it could
    1. scare the mom into letting you have it even if police refuse to do anything,
    2. or th police may actually order them to give it to you,

Also have you actually talked to the mom ?

Yes they originally asked my partner to collect it then when he went there they wouldn't answer the door then sent a text saying I couldn't have it back until the end of dec (this was 3 months ago) and now I can't get hold of them on the phone or at house
