.It's been sitting uninstalled for a year, then I installed it, it has gas going to the valve, but NO PILOT, and it seems no gas is coming to the pilot. 'Where do it begin priming or restarting a unit that's been sitting for awhile? It's still in new condition and barely ever used. Thanks...

Sometimes there is a lot of air in the line to the pilot and you need to hold the gas valve down in the pilot position for a couple of minutes. Is this a manual or ignition lighting system?

First thanks for responding. If the ignition is the red button that you press to ignite the pilot, then it's ignition. Anyway, you need to press the red button. AND, should I open any particular line to release air or moisture or?.

Make sure the gas is on, turn the gas valve to "pilot", hold it down for at least a minute if a new installation, remember, the gas has to travel from the line to the pilot and it is a small tube. After 1 minute, keep the valve pressed down and press the ignitor down, it should spark. Some use a battery and they give off a series of small sparks. Keep pressing the ignitor until the pilot lights. Keep the valve pressed down for 20 secs or so and then let it up. The pilot should stay lit. Turn the gas valve to on. Most of these type heaters have an adjustable valve, 1-5. If this doesn't work we'll try something else.

Great, I got the pilot to stay lit, BUT, I'm not sure which terminal to connect the thermostats white wire to, and which terminal to connect red to. I'm assuming that the burners won't ignite until that thermostat is connected properly.

Glad to hear that part works. So you have an independent T'stat, not a built in one. On a 2 wire system it may not make any difference. I'd hook it up 1 way and switch it if it doesn't work. Remember to move the gas valve from "pilot" to "on". How is the T'stat powered?
