Inheritance in Mexico, Citizens of US
My husband's parents passed away and left property in Mexico to him and his siblings. The property is being sold and we are wondering how to proceed with our part of the money from the sale if my husband is not a Mexican citizen. We are wondering what taxes we would owe (either in Mexico, the US, or California) and how to bring the money into a US bank to have access to it here. We also want to know if we should hire an attorney (either here, or one from Mexico) to help us proceed. Thanks!

I cannot comment on Mexican tax law, but you will owe NOTHING in the U.S because neither California nor the federal government has an inheritance tax.

HOW MUCH is your husband's share of the in heritance? If it is over $100,000, then perhaps getting a Mexican lawyer would make sense.
