4wd indicates it is in neutral (red light) 4 high or 4 low at times, only affects driving when in 4 low at first acceleration, if I drive one block shut off car and restart goes back to 2 wd. Service light comes on says "service 4wd".

Check your Owner's Manual--it may be time to change the ATF, transmission filter, and fluid in the transfer cases.
