    Adding light, switch & outlet
I'm in the midst of adding a bathroom in my basement and I want to add a light, switch & outlet. How do I wire all three? I want to take them off the main box as I have a extra breaker that is not used. 20A

    Using a 20 amp breaker.

    turn off breaker

Use 12/2 wire. Run from breaker to light box.

Run wire from light box to outlet box. Tie white to white, black to black, ground to ground.Use GFI outlet.

Run wire from light box to switch box. Wire black to black. Use wire nuts and tape to secure.

Hook white from switch box to light black wire. Mark with black tape as this is hot wire.

Hook light white wire to light box white. Secure with wire nut and tape.

Secure all ground wires in light box with wire nut. If metal box add pigtail ground wire to box.

    Wire switch.

Turn on breaker . Good to go.

    Good luck

Any outlet in bathroom must be GFI protected.

U would be able to hook another outlet to GFI outlet and both outlets would be protected.

U can put an outlet outside bathroom and wire from light box. Then wire GFI outlet from that outlet.

If u have never worked with electricity, I would recommend u getting an electrician to do work. If u error u could wind up dead.
