My Roper Dryer works but won't get hot enough to dry? And it also stays in one spot on the dial and won't shut off on it's own?

The first things I would suggest checking is regarding the airflow through the dryer... is the lint-trap clean? Is the output hose on the back connected properly? Does it have a kink that would reduce airflow? Is the pipe/hose full of lint (I've even seen one full of years of birds nests!). As to the dial not moving... sounds like the timer is not working. Obviously, you can still use the dryer but you might want to set a separate kitchen timer to check your dryer periodically.
