    Kitchen sink is backed up
Water is staying in the kitchen sink, disconnected diswasher and plugged the hole, checked master drain, plunging it will only take water down below into the disposal when you turn on the disposal water disapears from sink and then stays in the disposal. We don't know where the water is going and don't understand why it will not even slow drain over night. Please any help

    Hi Jimmy...

Sounds like a solidly clogged drain to me! If you have freezing weather conditions and the pipes are in an outside wall you may even have a frozen drain pipe/fitting by now... *UGH*!

Have you tried to snake the drain? If not, I'd rent an electric hand-held drain cleaning machine and snake the drain (see image). Most likely you will need to snake the drain multiple times to clear it as 1/2 the time (or more) the snake will end up going UP the VENT instead of down the DRAIN where you want it to go... ;) When at the rental store request a DROPHEAD cable for the machine as it increases the chances of going down the drain significantly!

Be sure to purchase/wear leather gloves and goggles for your own safety!

If you bring ice back at any point then you'll need to work on thawing the pipes, OK?

    Back to you...

Thanks Mark for the response. The drain falls center of the house, no frozen pipes. I applied draino last night to let it soak with no luck. Hard clog it is.
