My childern are 30 & 27 can I file for back support?
I have 2 childern that I have raised , they are 30 & 27 now but their father stopped paying child support in 1984 when the youngest was 3 should I ask for the back payments, sense he has become wealthy and has rejected our daughter the past 20 years?

Was there an original support order way back when ? Also what state was this in?

ANY question on law needs to include your general locale as laws vary by area.

If there was a support order that he stopped paying on, then you MAY be able to enforce that. Depends on local laws. If there was no court order, then you are out of luck.

It will depend on many things,

    1. I assume that you had a court order for support??
2 I will assume he was paying this order but stopped

If that is the case, it also sounds like you made no attempt to collect in over 16 years. Many states have a SOL on collecting back support, some states do not,

So why have you not tried to collect before, and why do you now want to collect
