22 and worried... Could I be pregnant?
I'm sorry, I know this question has been asked before but I am in a panic. I am a virgin and have been dating my boyfriend for about 3 months. We have done a lot of foreplay stuff, including some very slight contact (penile/vaginal) while naked, but never insertion. We are always very careful to have him into a tissue and clean up afterwards, including hand washing (and he pretty much always pees afterwards, as far as I can remember, which I know should clean out the urethra and should also eliminate any spern left in and pretty much eliminate the chance of them in precum, correct?).

I was late by about a week on my period and feeling nervous and nauseas. I got my period this weeked, a very heavy red flow that has now gone to a brownish discharge (after about 4 days). While this is a shorter period for me, it's not completely abnormal and I am often slightly irregular. I normally experience fatigue, cramping and swollen breasts as well as depression while on my period. However, even though I appear to have gotten my period, there is still cramping and very slight abdominal pain as well as naseousness. I realize this could all be just stress and basic freaking out, but I am scared. I took two HPTs a week apart before I got my period and they were both negative.

I tried setting up an OB/GYN appointment, but can't get one for about a month. I need some reassurance... Can you give me any?

I am not a doctor, I am not a nurse.

Just my opinion, from the info you have given us. I do not believe you are pregnant. It is good that you have an appointment and you are getting everything checked out. I would wait one more week just to take another hpt test, just to make sure, but I honestly doubt you are. That is just my opinion. I hope that everything is good and I am sure everything is fine. Yes, periods and symptoms can change as you get older for your period. It also depends on stress and other factors that have nothing to do with pregnancy. Hormone changes can also effect the way you feel.

The only reassurance you can get is by taking another hpt using the first morning urine, if its negative you should be OK. However, if you are still worried, ask your ob/gyn for a blood test and that should clear things up once and for all. Good luck and try to be more careful next time, make sure the guy wears a condom (even if you are not planning on having sex) this will protect you from not only times like this but also STDs (even if the guys says he's a virgin).

Thanks for the fast response! The only reason I'm still worried is because people have told me you can still get your period when pregnant. Since mine was shorter than normal and I'm still feeling kind of off, I think I began to panic again and that brought on some more nausea.

As I said, I am a virgin and this is my first serious boyfriend, so the problems may just be that I'm freaking out a bit and more than a little naïve. Thanks for understanding and being so kind.

No worries, believe me my wife and I were the same way when we were together at the start. Both of us virgins. So yes, I do believe the freaking out a bit is not necessary.

I was aware of that, I meant even if they were both virgins she should still be careful.

He is not a virgin, but he has been tested and was given a clean bill of health. Otherwise, I sure would not have let any clothes come off!

Excellent! I don't think you have much to worry about but in cases like this, you can never be too cautious. I don't think you are pregnant but you can put your mind at ease when you do the blood test (that is, if you are still worried by than).
Good luck though and let us know how it all turns out.
