Now, if he did not ejaculate in you, and you washed your hands, it is quite doubtful you got pregnant.

Also I don't get my period often, does this affect my ability to conceve?

It does not necessarily effect your ability to conceive as from experience I haveperiods every 2-3months and managed to conceive my daughter within 6 weeks.
