    You cannot read it that way, God provided a system of righteousness based on Law with the intention that it would ultimately be supplanted when Jesus, the messiah, came. Scripture tells us that the Law enabled us to to identify sin, but it also allowed us to identify that we needed more than Law to be truly righteous before God, we needed to base our righteousness not on our own actions but by identifying with God.

    But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned [them];

    And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

    All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

    That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
    2 Tim 3:14-17

    It's all meant for everyone.

    I agree with your reference 100%. Though there are some who call themselves Christians, and they continue to think we need only follow the New Testament.
