I am a 28 year old woman who has been having vision loss in my left eye for the last 6 months. It happens anywhere from 5-20 or more times a day. The loss of vision is for less than 1o seconds but it is very strange. It usually happens when I stretch or do a sudden balance change. I do not get dizzy or light headed. I just lose the vision in my left eye for a short period. I have never had headaches with them and it only happens when I am doing a change in movement suddenly or stretching. I have had 2 MRIs and nothing has shown up. I have also had a caratid artery test and that came back fine. It is definitely happening more now than when it started back in June of 06. What do you think it is?

Have you been to an opthomologist or an optomotrist to have this checked out?

What is your blood pressure like?

Ok, I am sorry I am going to pick on you. Why in heavens name do you not rush to a doctor, eye sight is so important and people just don't "lose sight" for a few seconds several times a day.

If it only happened once or twice I would have been sitting in a doctors office before the day was over refusing to leave till they saw me.

Please go to a professional to be checked out, our vision is too importatnt to take chances on

See a doctor!! Don't wait

Folks, she has seen a doctor on more than one occasion. She has had 2 MRIs and a carotid artery test. That suggests that she has been treated by a medical doctor at least twice.

Now, I am wondering why she has not seen an optomotrist or especially an opthomologist. High blood pressure can even cause similar circumstances. Or it could be intraocular pressure, just another thought.

I have been to see an optomatrist on several different occasions. I have had two field tests done and all came back fine. I am cleared with perfect vision and have no other issues with my sight. He is the one that sent me to a doctor because he felt that it was something in my arteries. My blood pressure is perfect and I have never had any problems with it. They have checked that over and over too. No one can figure anything out that is why I wrote into here to see if anyone has ever had any of these same issues. I do not lose 100% of my left eye vision. It goes dark as if you were light headed and then within a few seconds it is as if a curtain is being drawn open. It slowly regains sight and the last part to get sight every time is the inner part of my eye. Anything that you know of and YES... I have seen many doctors on many occasions and there still is no answer.

How about trying an opthomologist? They are more advanced than optomotrists.

It sounds like the beginning of a migraine. When my mom has migraines she loses sight for a second... it comes back but with wavy lines, but it is followed by a bad headache.

The doctor that I saw was actually an Opthomologist. And he even spoke with other doctors in his practice and they have not been able to figure it out either. I actually have 5 different doctors working on this one. I am looking to go get a tilt table done. They wanted to do that next.

I have had a similair situation happen to me for the last month. Only my vision has changed over time. In November my right eye was 5.25, January 4th my right eye was 6, January 23 my right eye was 6, and January 25th my right eye was 5.75. I experience periods of vision loss, all in the center of my eye. It looks like what happens when you stand up too soon, only this happens at anytime. It comes and goes. I have also noticed that if I look at something red, I see it to be a deeper color with my left eye than with my right. Also when looking at on coming head lights, the lights seem brighter with my left eye than with my right. I have seen my eye doctor 3 times. He can not see any reason for this situation. This occurrence with the blurry vision only happens at certain times.

My doctor has discussed the possibility of cataract, macular degeneration, MS, and possibly a virus. In the meantime, my sight has gotten progressively better over the last two days.

You need to see an ent specialist because it can be an inner ear involvement especially if a change in balance affects it. Also you need to see a neurologist for a more thorough test. An ophthalmologist isn't sepcialized for these types of tests. It could involve a cranial nerve which an neurologist can deteermine. Ask about an mri of the head including the inner auditory canal. This might help discover you problem. I hope this helps

Chippers is right on target with this. This could be a neurological deficit that should be seen by a neurologist.
