I had braces for over 3 years and when I got them off I noticed that a couple of my teeth have holes in the top but the braces were not on that part of my tooth. I don't know how that happened. The ortho. Said he could not fix it and that I would have to get it fixed somewhere else. What do I do?

Yes, orthodontist does not do regular dentristry, but it was very unprofessional of him to leave you hanging. You have to go back to your regular dentist.

It is not uncommon to have cavities when braces are removed especially if you haven't had regular dental care through your orthodontic phase. When braces are worn it's often recommended that you have dental cleanings more often than twice a year unless you are very meticulous with your home care.

Orthodontists generally do not check for cavities.
