    Pakistani VS iran/iraq
I am curious to know the difference of culture as far as a marriage is concerned between a pakistani man, and the other middleeastern/muslim countries, iran, iraq, saudi, etc.

Are there more, or less limitations on a woman in a marriage in pakistan? Difference of degree? Completely different?

    Thank you

    Hi jenniepepsi
My parents are from pakistan so I know some stuff about muslim marriages.

There actually aren't too many differences between marriages, but some rituals differ between sects. For example in Afganistan the couple that is getting married usually have a ritual in which a cloth or blanket is placed over the couple and a mirror is exchanged between the two to see one another. In pakistan, this might not be done based on the religious sect or religion you belong to.

Another thing with pakistani marriages is that most men in pakistan don't have multiple wives. This is more common in Saudi Arabia. There are also less limitations on women in other muslim countries than there are in Saudi Arabia.

Also the degree of limitations in marriage also depend on what your parents want for you. Some parents might force their daughters to get married and others might allow their daughters to decide whether they want to marry.

I think the thing that is most common in marriages between muslim countries is that muslim marriages are pretty much always arranged. However when people from muslim countries move to western counties, their children might not choose to have an arranged marriage.

Ahh thank you so much :)
What about 'rules' as far as the... hmmm, how to phrase it... 'roles' of the family? Like, to a person here in america, I would be considered very traditional marriage roles, submissive wife, husband head of house hold, etc. here in america, most women are more feministic, 'i will never submit to a man for any reason' kind of woman. I would imagine in the middle eastern countries that is almost non existent lol. But as far as marriages between a pakistani muslim and an american muslim, in america, what would be the rules for a woman?

Sorry I hope you understand what I'm saying, I tend to ramble a lot

It would exactly how you thought. A woman's place in muslim countries is in the house and the husband provides for the family. This is usually the case, but some women probably do work. Outside of muslims countries, muslim women usually make a living.

Yes, I know that's how it is for all Muslim countries. But I was wondering about the differences between pakistan and the others (mostly iran/iraq) I know it's a confusing question LOL
