No hot water coming from kitchen mixer tap but there is cold water coming out.
It is -13c outside not sure if that has anything to do with my problem.
This morning I turned on the hot water tap and nothing. Turned on the cold got some. It's a reasonably new mixer tap. The central heating has been on all night, the shower is working and so too is the downstairs WC hot water tap. Any suggestions for why not hot water in the kitchen.

    HI Jonsy...

You could turn off the hot water shutoff under the sink and then disconnect the flexible hose from the faucet. Then direct the hose into a bucket and turn the shutoff back on to see if hot water flows full stream. Make sure it runs full stream as a trickle could mislead you into thinking water is there when it isn't... ;)

If you have hot water to the shutoff then the faucet will need to be disassembled and cleaned.

If you don't have hot water to the shutoff, then most likely the pipe has frozen and you will need to thaw it out by keeping the kitchen cabinet open and using a hair dryer.

You'll want to connect the hose back to the faucet and then OPEN the faucet to the hot side (if single handle) or open the hot water side of the faucet so that the water has somewhere to go once thawed or it could refreeze, OK?

Then, use the hair dryer up pretty close to the hot water pipe and keep it on in 10-15 minute increments. This should work for most basic freezes. If it fails to unfreeze see if you can chase the pipe out in the basement and find a spot that is closest to an outside wall and try using the hair dryer there.

Let us know what you find, OK?

Thanks. We eventually had no water coming from that tap. However, we put a large heater in the kitchen and it worked, we now have both hot and cold water coming into the kitchen tap.
