Without a license to practice medicine in Canada there's no way that you can even be a volunteer physician. You cannot practice medicine of any kind until you are licensed in Canada.

MD trying to get into health care. My eyes must be drunk!

I'm completely ignorant of inter-continental medical licensing reciprocity agreements. However, would be happy to assist by contacting any state agency(ies) wherein you may wish to locate and/or serving as an intermediary.

I believe, in this case, you can contact me by clicking on name, sending a private message.

Be happy to help in anyway possible.

AFTER NOTE: Failed to note you were currently situated in Canada. Have no idea of licensing requirements there. Barely understand US regulations after 60 yrs. Still happy to assist in anyway possible. Doctors much needed. If you are MD, can get it done!

Have you applied at any hospital ERs for night tech?
You would be restricted in what you can do, of course, but I bet they would be happy to have you.
Calgary is a boom economy right now, so at least you are in the right place for work of any kind while you wait.
Don't many countries have MD programs that bend the rules if you are willing to work in remote areas for x years? Does Canada have that?

Here are a few links that may help, although I see in your post that you have already started the process of taking your evaluation exams.

I understand what you mean and I do hope you pass your evaluation exams. Good doctors are needed absolutely everywhere. However, I don't even think you would be allowed to do volunteer work until everything is completed.

DrBill and joy, alty put up a link that explains what the OP has to do to work as an MD Canada. There is nothing that can be done until he completes his exams and is reviewed by the medical board period. He will not be allowed to work in any medical capacity, even as a volunteer, until then. If he tries to work in any capacity in a medical field without proper licensing in Canada, he will never work in Canada as a Doctor. I am sure he realizes that.

As far as doctors are concerned, joy, the rules can't be bent, unless they want to be sued for malpractice.

I am also sure that the US has the same strict restrictions in this regard. At least I would hope so.

It is a well known fact that qualified individuals immigrate to Canada with doctorates from well known establishments in Europe and Asia and unless they have the money to pursue their qualification licensing to work in any medical profession in Canada they must work in any capacity they can to make a living. Unfortunately this is the status quo here.

It is entirely unfair to suggest this gentleman can work 'in a hospital, even as a technician' and perhaps the 'rules can be bent'.

Alty gave a good link, and myself in the healthcare field in Canada definitely gave this OP proper advice concerning his direction.
