I overpayed my landlord for utilities, when will I get my owings back?
For the last year My landlord has charged me 200 a month for utilities, I split the cost with my neighbour upstairs. In the agreement it says that I am suppose to get reimbursed for any overpayments. It has been a year and I am moving January 1st, I still do not have the reimbursment or rent reciepts. What Do I do and can I request the money owing at anytime?

    Hello c:

Write your landlord a letter requesting an accounting of your payments, and a refund... Send your letter certified, return receipt requested. If he doesn't pay you, you can sue him in small claims court for your money... Small claims court is quick, cheap and easy.

How do you know there were over payments? What utilities were covered? Have you received any copies of utility bills?

My neighbour who lives in the top part of the house received her copy of the utilities and it showed that they owed her over 800 for the year. We together pay 400 a month for utilities. The utilities are not split between the apartments, we share. She gave me a copy of her reciepts/bills.
