5000 litre rainwater tank won't pump water
Turn on pump (Goulds WGJ-WGC) attached to water tank, power on & pump on lights come on. Pump runs momentarily & then failure light comes on. Press restart button & pump only runs while this is kept depressed. But no water comes through to toe open tap. Suspect it is not primed but how do you prime it?

Have you checked the suction line for a blockage? Is this pump in or out of the tank? Let me know, Tom

Many thanks Tom. I suspect you are right. Pump is out of the tank. I am 60Yr old female trying to do own repairs! Will have to get some sort of tool to try & unscrew the hosing (about 17 cm circumference)that runs from tank into the pump.

    Hi Tom
Press restart button & pump only runs while this is kept depressed. But no water comes through to the open tap. The failure button comes on I am a 58 Lady and I try to fix things myself. I will check to see if there is a blockage. Priming the pump was mentioned and how is this done?

Marie, if this pump is below the level of the top of the water in the tank, then it won't need priming. It will prime itself. If it is above the tank, it would need to be primed, but then it would also have to have either a footvalve or a checkvalve in order to hold prime. I suspect it is below the water level. That's why Tom suspects the suction line.

Can you give us a model number for the pump? It should be possible to find a copy of the manual and find out what the failure light indicates when it comes on.
