Depends on how the blocks were installed. For some interior installations, they use caulk rather than mortar. If you are lucky and have that, carefully cut the caulk out and remove the blocks. If they are mortared in, the work is a lot harder. In most cases, you will have to break out the old block. Put a lot of masking tape over the blocks, make sure to wear appropriate safety equipment and hit the center of the block with a small sledge. You might be able to pry some out after breaking out a few. You could also try a masons chisel but you'll probably break the blocks anyway. BE CAREFUL, there will be a lot of glass flying around.
