First things first, I am on birth control. I have an IUD and have had it since last July. My Periods are always normal and have been since I was 17 and am now 22. Here starts the question: In November I had my period right on time on the 9th and it was lighter than usual. I had sex about a week after my period and noticed the next day that I was spotting a bit but it went away the next day. Now this month I haven't gotten my period at all and haven't been under any unusual stress or anything like that. I had sex the week I was supposed to get my period. I've got slight cramping on and off but now its almost a week late and still no sign of a period beginning. I have no symptoms of pregnancy and wanted to find out what all this could mean.

Some women will find having an IUD causes their periods to become irregular or stop altogether. It may just be from that. Certainly you could try a pregnancy test. While it's possible pregnancy can occur with an IUD, it is not common.

One of my fellow nurses is pregnant right now. She had the Mirena.

Have you checked for the IUD strings to see if the IUD is still in place?
