    93 Honda Prelude loses acceleration
1993 Honda Prelude- runs smoothly but on 3 occasions has lost acceleration (and stalled once). My mechanic thought the problem was with the ignition-distribution system. He let the car run for over 4 hours and put a heat gun to the distributor- no problems. He replaced the fuel filter but it happened again. Any ideas?

Having the same problem with a Chevy Truck. They have no clue. The computer code gives them a general idea that it is with the electronice or throttle, but nothing specific.
Good luck. If you get it figured out, let me know!

Replacing the igniter should solve the problem. Be sure to coat the back of the igniter with silicone grease before reinstalling. While you are at it, I would replace the coil and rotor, due to the age of the vehicle and since you will have the distributor open. Make sure you have fresh NGK spark plugs installed, too. If you want to save the money, at least have Autozone check the igniter and coil on their Well's machine--there's no charge.
