Can you completely cover a two stage heat pump with a tarp during the winter?
We live in Minnesota and my husband completely covered our heat pump to keep the snow off it. Can this be good?

The heat pump will not function properly without airflow. Some people build a wood frame sloped snow shield above their units that sit about 1-2ft. Above the top. Make sure you keep the snow 2 ft.away from the intake side too.

It can be covered if you don`t plan to use it in the winter as a heatpump, (pull the plug,or turn off at the breaker),problem is many people forget and turn them on without removing the cover
