    Calm down.

What does he talk about? What does he like?

And if you have no clue about this... get him something you like... if it doesn't set well with him... well... I guess there's a potential conflict.

But really... you should know him better than any of us. And if you don't, you know you better than we know you. When in doubt, be true to yourself and if the rest falls apart... it was going to anyway.

So don't fret and worry and struggle with this. Find something you like and give it. Move on.

Bake/Make something for him with your own two little hands -- brownies, cookies, fudge.

I have terrific (easy) recipes, if you need one.

I love the idea of baking. Being scared means you should not buy anything. Never feel that you ever have to give someone a gift, and never feel that you have to explain why you didn't, or why your gift is handmade or inexpensive and the one you receive is way too much. 13 is young to be in love anyway, so it's good to be 'scared' of exchanging gifts.
Other 'handmade' gift ideas: A collection of tunes. A little drawing - of him, of you, his dog, his favorite hero, anything, in a handmade paper frame.

Your boyfriend is 13? How old are you then? At 13 you shouldn't be having a boyfriend. This is one of the reasons, you are clearly not mature enough to handle this type of relationship if this stresses you out. If you don't know what he likes or needs, then it can't be much of a relationship.

If you must give him something, then make something for him. Knit a scarf, bake cookies, etc.

Put together a graphic "novel" of him as the hero. It doesn't have to be long -- or easier, or write a short story with him as hero and draw a picture or two or three.

I have to say one more thing, because gift giving is a sore subject with me.
Gifts should be UNEXPECTED and with no EXPECTATION of return! End of story.
Anyone who said to me 'I want to buy you a gift' gets nothing from me. But I'm very ornery. If he loves you, he'll love whatever you make him, or say to him, or read to him, or sing to him. If he looks disappointed - hey, break up with him on the spot.

Gift giving in this modern world is just awful. Half of it is 'here's what I want, want do you want' and the other half is a frantic spending for stuff the giftee doesn't want and has to find some way to unload.
