But I'm not! Now things are getting serious I don't know what to do. I feel sick every time I think about the lie but I am scared of losing him! HELP!
How old are you, and how long have you been together? Why did you lie in the first place?
I'm 19 and we've been together for nearly 3 months
I don't know why I lied, I was nervous I suppose and it was 2 years ago I slept with the other guy and it was a drunken one night stand on holiday and now I feel really guilty and I don't want to lose him
People tell little lies all the time.
It could actually be a good tactic to get rid of guys who are hitting on you just for sex, or, it could be a good thing if you have a man in your life who accepts that you are a virgin, and want to stay that way. The little lie you told, could help weed out the potential boyfriends in other words.
I would at this point, if you are serious, an sure of this boyfriends' character and motives, tell him the truth, and that is that you had a bad experience sexually, and vowed to never have sex again, and I take it, you haven't.
If your sexual experiences thus far have only been one drunken one night stand that you have regretted for over two years now. My guess is, that when you met this new fellow, you didn't want to go down that road again, and/or, you were embarrassed to admit the sexual encounter that you deeply regretted. After all, you had only just met the new guy. You were under no obligation to explain your sex life, or lack of.
But with things getting serious, clear your conscience, and have a quiet conversation with him. You haven't robbed a bank, or have a history of infidelity, nor have you had another drunken one night stand. You learned your lesson. Had this new relationship not gotten serious, he would be none the wiser today.
